Description
The Ultrafragola mirror is one of Ettore Sottsass's most famous creations. Designed in 1970, this luminous mirror is an iconic piece of postmodern design.
The Ultrafragola mirror is made of translucent pink acrylic, with curved and undulating elements that create a fascinating effect of light and color. The mirror surface is illuminated by fluorescent lights located behind the acrylic, creating a halo of soft and diffuse light around the user.
The name "Ultrafragola" is a pun that combines "ultra" (for its modernity) and "fragola" (strawberry in Italian, for its organic shape). The mirror was produced in a limited edition by the Italian company Poltronova, and is now considered a collectible object.
The Ultrafragola mirror is an example of the postmodern aesthetic characterized by the use of curved forms, bright colors, and exaggerated decorative elements. Sottsass's design for this mirror has influenced many contemporary designers and artists, and it is considered one of the masterpieces of Italian design from the 1970s.
